There Is No Such Thing As A Christian!

Let’s be honest, there is no such thing as a “true” Christian.

It’s common to observe Christians advertising the virtues of their faith and how they live their lives to honor and praise their God. Many Christians are fond of saying that “true” Christians are role models for the rest of the world which is hopelessly lost and wallowing in sin.

But what exactly is a “true” Christian? The standard Christian claim is that to be a Christian you must turn over your life to God and live according to his will.

I argue that beneath the shiny veneer of all this pious sermonizing lies a hypocritical theology that does not live up to it’s own advertising. I believe Nietzsche said is best: “In truth, there was only one christian and he died on the cross.”

Let’s start with God’s laws, which Jesus stated were to be followed “until heaven and earth passed away”.

Matt 5:18-19: For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled. Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.

The “Law” is the statutes and regulations God gave his people in the Old Testament. You may be familiar with some of these:

Kill people for working on weekends (Exodus 31:14, Exodus 35:2), kill adulterers (Leviticus 20:10), non-believers (2 Chronicles 15:12-13), homosexuals ((Leviticus 20:13), false prophets (Zechariah 13:3), followers of other religions (Exodus 22:19), blasphemers (Leviticus 24:10)…etc, etc.

[For more information, please see Quenching God’s Thirst for Blood and A Repulsive God]

To put the icing on the cake, God later declares His laws as perfect (Psa 19:7-9), last forever (Psa 119:151-152), and eternal (Psa 119:160 and Isaiah 40:8).

Ask yourself, do Christians follow these laws? Of course not! In fact, in order for a moral society to function at all, it is crucial that we ignore God’s commandments in general.

Interestingly enough, if Christians like a particular law they will quote it as God’s word. However, if they don’t care to observe a law, they’ll claim that they are not under the law because Jesus did away with the cumbersome and inconvenient laws of the Old Testament. It’s a win-win!

Sadly, Christians are not aware that Jesus said in Matt 5:18-19 that all the laws were to be followed until heaven and earth passed away.

Why do Christians ignore what Jesus said? Where do they get this idea from in the first place? The answer is that Christians mostly follow the teachings of Paul, not Jesus. It was Paul who canceled God’s laws with his pen. Paul declared that God’s Law was canceled by a human sacrifice called Jesus.

Col 2:13-14: And you, being dead in your sins and the uncircumcision of your flesh, hath he (God) quickened together with him (Jesus), having forgiven you all trespasses; Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances (God’s Law) that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross;

[see also Ga 3:10-13, 5:1, 5:18]

Paul’s declaration is based on his need to win converts from non-Jewish populations. Greeks for example, had little use for the Hebrew God’s complicated laws. The Law was Paul’s competition as it hindered his efforts to gain converts to his new religion. Of course, a rational person can see that Paul directly contradicted what Jesus stated in Matt 5:18-19 but that matters little to Christians. One also has to wonder how laws which are declared perfect and eternal in the Old Testament become “opposed to the people” and “canceled” in the New Testament.

Paul also put an end to God’s laws with this statement:

Rom 10:4: For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to every one that believeth.

The problem with this statement is that it once again contradicts both Jesus and the Old Testament. Do perfect and eternal laws end because a writer who is trying to sell a new religion to people says so? On the contrary, there is nothing in the Old Testament which states that the coming of a Messiah would be the end of the Law:

Ezek 37:24 (God speaking): And David my servant [the Christ/Messiah] shall be king over them; and they all shall have one shepherd: they shall also walk in my judgments, and observe my statutes, and do them.

In other words, when the messianic age comes, the Law will still be fully observed.

Paul’s new invented theology contradicts God’s earlier holy word and Christians who follow Paul’s teaching (or apostasy?) and ignore Jesus and God’s instructions do not serve the Lord their God. They are raising Paul’s word above the word of Jesus and God.

Here are just a few of the examples which show the hypocrisy of Christians: If Christians really wanted to do God’s will as they so often claim, they would worship on Saturday which is the Sabbath (Exo 31:15) they would observe all God’s dietary laws (Lev 11), they would not wear mixed fabrics (Lev 19:19), they would not eat meat with any blood in it (Lev 17:10), they would kill homosexuals and persons who work on weekends!

So we see that Christians ignore many of God’s Old Testament laws because a writer named Paul said observing the Law was no longer necessary. Such is the shallow nature of the faith Christians have in the Old Testament and the words of Jesus regarding the status of the Law.

But the problem gets worse. The New Testament also gives some instructions on how Christians should behave:

1 Tim 2:11-12: Let the woman learn in silence with all subjection. But I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over the man, but to be in silence.

According to Paul, who Christians follow, women are to be silent regarding religious issues. This means that ordaining women as pastors or teachers is not permitted. How many Christians observe this regulation? How many women teach Bible classes against the instructions of the “holy inspired” Paul?

Another often rejected Christian principle is Jesus’s instructions to sell your belonging and give the money to the poor if you wish to follow him:

Luke 12:33: Sell that ye have, and give alms; provide yourselves bags which wax not old, a treasure in the heavens that faileth not, where no thief approacheth, neither moth corrupteth.

Of course, Christians today will claim that Jesus only meant that to apply to his followers who lived at that time. The actual instruction from Jesus has no such qualifiers attached to it but since so few Christians want to obey this instruction, it’s little wonder they’ll try to wiggle out of it’s implications.

Jesus stated, as most cult leaders do, that those who left their families to serve him would receive a great reward.

“Matt 19:21,29: Jesus said unto him, If thou wilt be perfect, go and sell that thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come and follow me. And every one that hath forsaken houses, or brethren, or sisters, or father, or mother, or wife, or children, or lands, for my name’s sake, shall receive an hundredfold, and shall inherit everlasting life.”

How many Christians who claim that they want to “serve the Lord” have given their hearts to Jesus and left their families to devote their full energy to the Lord Jesus? Don’t these pious mouthpieces for God really want to “turn their lives over to God” as they say they must to be a real Christian?

How many self righteous Christians live in nice homes, have wives and children, and possessions while all the time preaching that they live to serve Jesus? The depth of Christian hypocrisy speaks for itself as these people will ignore any teachings which are too inconvenient to follow.

Jesus stated that anyone who divorces and marries another women commits adultery.

Luke 16:18 Whosoever putteth away his wife, and marrieth another, committeth adultery: and whosoever marrieth her that is put away from her husband committeth adultery.

Please note the penalty for adultery according to God’s word.

Deut 22:22: If a man be found lying with a woman married to an husband, then they shall both of them die, both the man that lay with the woman, and the woman: so shalt thou put away evil from Israel.

How many Christians have violated the clear instructions from Jesus regarding divorce? How many persons are being put to death for their adulterous behavior?

Jesus gave his followers very clear instructions on how to pray. This is called the Lord’s prayer and can be found in the book of Matthew and Luke. There is no other way to pray in the New Testament. However, right before the prayer language was given, Jesus instructed his followers that this should be only done in complete privacy!

Matthew 6:5-8: “And when you pray, do not be like the hypocrites, for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the street corners to be seen by others. Truly I tell you, they have received their reward in full. But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you. And when you pray, do not keep on babbling like pagans, for they think they will be heard because of their many words. Do not be like them, for your Father knows what you need before you ask him.”

Oddly enough, Christians tend to skip this part of the instructions. Either they are unaware or they willfully ignore Jesus’s instructions. No matter the reason, it’s not defensible.

The New Testament itself shows how a “true” Christian can be recognized.

1 John 2:3-6: And hereby we (Christians) do know that we know him (Jesus), if we keep his commandments. He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him. But whoso keepeth his word, in him verily is the love of God perfected: hereby know we that we are in him. He that saith he abideth in him ought himself also so to walk, even as he walked.

There is absolutely no wiggle room in 1 John 2:3-6 for hypocritical, self proclaimed Christians who don’t want to follow the clear instructions of Jesus regarding the selling of worldly possessions, divorce, keeping all the laws, or putting one’s family ahead of serving Jesus and following him. If a person claims to be “in Christ” but does not obey the word of Jesus, they are liars!

How many Christians have ignored these Biblical commands and the direct commands of their Savior Jesus Remember that God’s law is perfect (Psa 19:7) and eternal (Psa 119:152,160). If Christians really want to do God’s will, as they constantly advertise, why do so many of them divorce and fail to punish wrongdoers as God instructed?

Are God’s laws outdated now? Does this God’s moral standard change with the times? Why should skeptics be impressed with a God whose moral code changes and follows the evolving customs of human society? Why should skeptics be impressed with believers who ignore the very word of God they claim to believe?

Jesus made the following promise:

Mark 16:15-18: And he (Jesus) said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature. He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned. And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.

Does this ring true about Christians? Do Christians really do all these things as Jesus promised they would? Faced with the obvious dilemma that this failed promise entails, Christians will once again claim that this promise of Jesus only applied to first century believers. Of course, there is no such qualifier in the actual text which says this promise would only apply to first century believers. This particular Christian apologetic tap dance is done out of sheer desperation.

Jesus also promised:

John 14:12-14: Verily, verily, I (Jesus) say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father. And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it.

If only life was the easy for a Christian. Obviously, either this promise made by Jesus is false or there are no true Christians. And once again, modern Christians will claim that this promise by Jesus only applied to first century believers. Isn’t it amazing how much of the New Testament is outdated and only applied to the people of that time?

Paul gets into the act again as he strongly advises that Christians not marry but stay single and celibate for Jesus.

1 Cor 7:8-9: I say therefore to the unmarried and widows, it is good for them if they abide even as I. But if they cannot contain, let them marry: for it is better to marry than to burn.

While Paul also states that it is not a sin to marry, he makes it quite clear that it is a lack of spiritual strength which underlies the need to marry.

1 Cor 7:29: But this I say, brethren, the time is short: it remaineth, that both they that have wives be as though they had none;

Paul also made it clear that the unmarried are fully concerned about serving the Lord and not distracted and preoccupied by the “affairs of this world” and childish lusts.

1 Cor 7:32-35: But I would have you without carefulness. He that is unmarried careth for the things that belong to the Lord, how he may please the Lord: But he that is married careth for the things that are of the world, how he may please his wife. There is difference also between a wife and a virgin. The unmarried woman careth for the things of the Lord, that she may be holy both in body and in spirit: but she that is married careth for the things of the world, how she may please her husband. And this I speak for your own profit; not that I may cast a snare upon you, but for that which is comely, and that ye may attend upon the Lord without distraction.

As Paul points out, the unmarried live in a right way, which is in undivided devotion to the Lord. It is these unmarried and celibate believers who demonstrate that they want to please the Lord and do his will fully. How many “true” Christians have followed the recommendation of Paul in this matter?

How many Christians give in to their lusts, marry, and divert their devotion and attention away from fully serving God’s will and affairs? How many Christians have decided to ignore these strong recommendations of Paul despite having the extra moral strength that being “filled with Jesus” is supposed to give them?

And let’s not forget about Christmas, the pagan celebration of the winter solstice which was adopted by Christians and used to celebrate the birthday of Jesus. They are celebrating the birthday of their LORD and SAVIOR on a pagan holiday. Jesus never instructed that his birthday be celebrated, nor is there any birth date given in the New Testament. Bringing customs of pagan gods into God’s congregation is a violation of huge proportions. The Bible God gives clear instructions not to adopt customs of other nations.

Lev 20:23,26: And ye shall not walk in the manners of the nations, which I cast out before you: for they committed all these things, and therefore I abhorred them. And ye shall be holy unto me: for I the LORD am holy, and have severed you from other people, that ye should be mine.

Apparently Christians want an excuse to celebrate without authority do to so. They set up trees, decorate them with silver tinsel, gold balls and religious ornaments, gather around it, put up lights, put on pageants, and engage in exactly the things God told them not to do.

Jer 10:2-5: Thus saith the LORD, Learn not the way of the heathen, and be not dismayed at the signs of heaven; for the heathen are dismayed at them. For the customs of the people are vain: for one cutteth a tree out of the forest, the work of the hands of the workman, with the axe. They deck it with silver and with gold; they fasten it with nails and with hammers, that it move not. They are upright as the palm tree, but speak not: they must needs be borne, because they cannot go. Be not afraid of them; for they cannot do evil, neither also is it in them to do good.

These actions by Christians laugh in the face of the instructions God gave in the Old Testament.

God instructs his people not to learn or practice the ways of the nations around them. It’s astounding how Christians will ignore what the Bible tells them when it conflicts with what they want to do.

These same religious chameleons then proclaim and advertise to the world that they want to “serve God.”

Remember what the zealous, pious sounding Christian stated: “To be a Christian you must turn over your life to God and live according to his will.”

These Christians want all of the benefits and rewards of being God’s “chosen” people and his “elect”. However, when it comes to actually obeying the instructions their God gives, they’ll offer up nothing but hundreds of mealy mouthed excuses as to why they are excused from following the mandates of their Savior.

In reality, Christians engage in just as much self gratification and self exaltation as they say unbelievers practice. Christians (and other religionists) create two objects, themselves and the object of their worship. But this is both vanity and idolatry.

When a Christian praises the object of his worship, his “God”, he is really praising his ideas and views about the object of his worship.

The Christian exalts himself using a surrogate ego which he calls “God”. Whenever a pious Christian preaches to a skeptic about how Christians serve God, expose them for the charlatans they are. There is no such thing today as a “true” Christian.

  1. This was very eye-opening! I was a Christian from April of 2002 until just a few years ago when I decided to leave the faith for good. Even while I was a Christian, I decided to do some online research and read some books offline to find out what the faith was really all about. The information I read really opened up my eyes and my mind! Of course, I’ve known all along that Christians will pick and choose their favorite Bible verses to quote that are convenient for them while ignoring the rest, and I grew suspicious of the fact that some Christians have been married and divorced either once or even multiple times, and yet these same Christians will preach against homosexuality and deny gay and lesbian couples their right to marry. They whine and cry about what is being taught in their children’s public schools but refuse to pull their children out of school claiming that doing so will deny their children to be the so-called “light of the world.” They force their religious beliefs down their children’s throats at the earliest age possible expecting them to totally understand it as if they were full-grown adults, then turn around and shield them from things like politics and other adult things knowing the children would not fully understand them. Children are not allowed to read Harry Potter books, watch Disney movies and cartoons, play with toys that Christians believe will encourage belief in magic and paganism such as My Little Pony, listen to secular music or attend secular rock concerts, etc, but Christians never pay attention to the way they celebrate Easter and Christmas. Some Christians even allow their children to celebrate Halloween, which is also pagan. Christians want to force the rest of us to live and believe as they do, even place the Ten Commandments and Nativity Scenes on government property, but many of them don’t seem to practice what they preach. So, I agree with you 100%: There is no such thing as a true Christian!

    1. Too easy. Everything you posted, flat out disregarded.

      1 John 2:19

“They went out from us, but they did not really belong to us. For if they had belonged to us, they would have remained with us; but their going showed that none of them belonged to us.”

      1. The merit of what Joann says depends on what she says, not who she is. In contrast, you seem to have found a Biblical justification for ad hominem arguments.

      2. True ,for there no evidence of the holy spirit working in peoples lives ,it is all a sham

  2. I am a christian and I know there’s no such thing as a true Christian

  3. …In your opinion…
    And your opinion doesn’t matter.
You should know that nothing matters, that is, quoting Nietzsche.

The mistake you make is throwing around verses from context to context and immediately calling contradictions. Classical atheist understanding of the bible.

If we were to use your standard of what a “Christian” is, then actually, your own definition defeats you. For example, Christ said: (Matthew 22:39) “39 And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ Therefore, you most certainly have shown some form of love toward others, which means you are a Christian, because you followed Christ’s words.

In another light, someone that claims to be a Buddhist must also be moderate, right?
And who sets the standard for moderation? Moderation becomes rather subjective and relative. Does that mean a Buddhist is no longer a Buddhist because they fail YOUR standard of moderation?

To be clear, is a Buddhist moderate because of their theology or is a person a Buddhist because they are moderate?

Atheist always spin this around and the second they see a small hair out of place, they call contradiction. It’s hypocritical at best and ignorant at worst.

It’s too bad you are so short sighted. The goal is the striving for holiness, nothing more.
You proselytizing is nothing short of theological confusion and annoying blasphemy.
My 9 year old has better arguments than this.

  4. Hi doops,

It’s only fair that I warn you that I’m very keen on existentialist philosophy. I can assure you that Nietzsche never said or meant any of the sort. I recommend that you stay away from trying to quote one of the most complex philosophical minds in modern history. Happy to explain Nietzsche’s nihilism if you’re interested.

Your comments on religion are far too incoherent to respond to. If you feel that I’ve made a mistake in any of the verses I’ve quoted or discussed, kindly let me know so that we may review in more detail. Otherwise, I’m stuck trying to discuss religion with a 9 year old 🙂

    Thank you,

    1. Brilliant reply!

  6. I agree with you mostly, but I don’t think we should blame Paul for the content of the books of Timothy, since he didn’t write them. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Authorship_of_the_Pauline_epistles I have seen Pentacostals quote the books of Timothy and we should blame them for poor scholarship among other things.

    1. Hi. I don’t disagree. Fair is fair 🙂

  7. It’s so ridiculous to claim a Bronze Age book of writings is something that anyone should yield to. Of course I claimed to be a Christian most of my life, but through this age of technology and all the knowledge one can gain, and applying logic and reason, I woke up!

  8. You’re welcome!

When you approach the Bible as a theologian for whatever purpose, just to find out about God, not to come to know God, then you end up with false readings unavoidably. There are falsehoods being taught by professed Christian ministers to professed Christians certainly and that does not help my case to even leave you my reaction to this writing. But I can say this: Hypocrisy exists. And truth also does and it can be found by those who love it.

Let’s say there is no Christian as defined in the Bible (Acts 11:26) within 3000 miles of you. Well, let’s even take you premise and say there is no Christian at all. That still does not say God does not exist and that the man Jesus Christ did not walk on the earth. Jesus is the truth as He stated. He came into the world on a mission to save. And no one who will not approach God in humility will come to know Him and receive God’s gift of eternal life. I can leave you with that. God, Jesus, salvation… these are topics that I hope won’t forever remain obscure to you.

I have read your article and want to commend you for your research. But the disposition of your heart towards God, at least at the time you wrote that piece, was not suitable for you to be saved and come to the knowledge of the truth (1 Timothy 2:4). It’s good that you “woke up” as you understood. It’s well that you put entertainment aside as there is such a thing in this world as being entertained to death. But you won’t give an account of your life to Christians, real of fake, but to God. All you need is the truth. So, your putting hypocrites on trial does not absolve you of your own errors. You are proud and that ensures your blindness so that you cannot yourself progress past the widespread hypocrisy that you have discerned among professed Christians. There is no path for you to even be a model Christian if you wanted to with the understanding that you have and it’s simply because of your pride. You’d have to humble yourself and make that path. I feel you are enough of a good scholar of the Bible to find out what God had to say about pride. But sadly, you have something in common with professed Christians who want to be deceived and be deceivers themselves because they love their sins more than “the Lord their God,” to borrow your words.

I can do nothing about your attitude towards God, but I like the way you learn. I will share with you some messages that may provoke your thoughts about your Maker. There are things you have missed while looking into the Bible:

PS: For the sake of anyone studying, this statement of the author of this article is false: “Paul declared that God’s Law was canceled by a human sacrifice called Jesus.” I know that’s what many professed Christians believe but a thing that is false is false no matter who believes it. The same Paul stated: “Seeing it is one God, who shall justify the circumcision by faith, and uncircumcision through faith. Do we then make void the law through faith? God forbid: yea, we establish the law” (Romans 3:30-31). Let those who don’t love lawlessness seek God to be instructed by Him concerning this matter.

It’s profitable to take note of what the apostle Peter wrote to true Christians about the writings of the apostle Paul:
    2 Peter 3:14-16
14 Therefore, beloved, seeing that you look for these things, be diligent to be found in peace, without blemish and blameless in his sight. 15 Regard the patience of our Lord as salvation; even as our beloved brother Paul also, according to the wisdom given to him, wrote to you; 16 as also in all of his letters, speaking in them of these things. In those, there are some things that are hard to understand, which the ignorant and unsettled twist, as they also do to the other Scriptures, to their own destruction.

    1. Nice sermon. In summary, God created himself to sacrifice himself TO himself, in order to save the world FROM himself! Is this where you truly want to go with this?

      1. No, but if you don’t want my comment to work against your interests and benefit a visitor of your blog, feel free to remove it.

      2. Wise choice. I wouldn’t want to defend the ridiculous foundation of the Christian religion myself. I mean, basing an entire religion on the the premise that God created himself to sacrifice himself TO himself, in order to save the world FROM himself is no easy feat. It’s always a good strategy to fight the battles that you can win and avoid those that will end in humiliating defeat.

I do commend you for your honesty. Your intentions of spreading your filth in my house for the benefit of potential visitors is truly revealing. Please understand that I must now put you in your place, for the benefit of potential visitors 🙂

You propose the existence of a God that watches from the heavens as his most beloved followers rape little children. Priests, Cardinals, Bishops, Popes, Church leaders, soldiers of God, etc. seek out little children, bend them over, and stick their penises in their fragile and still developing anuses. You may call these men hypocrites, devils, or whatever you want, BUT you’re still left with your God watching these men insert their cocks in the mouths of small children.

You claim to speak about “truth”; well, this is the truth no matter how you spin it. You can try to defend it any way you wish, but it doesn’t stop your God from watching (and maybe enjoying?) His most innocent of creations get a man-sized penis down their throats as they see their lord and savior look down on them from the pulpit.

Now imagine that powerful and almost mystical rosary chain which hangs from the rapist’s neck and ends with God on the cross repeatedly crashing on the tender, and by now, pinkish red ass of a small child as he or she is getting rammed by people who supposedly have a direct line to God. — Come here little Timmy, let’s jerk each other off and try to not stain the holy garments!

Tell me? Did God approve, and so did nothing? Or Did God not approve, and still did nothing? Worst yet, did God not approve, and couldn’t stop it? Or my favorite: Was it all part of God’s centuries-old plan to have innocent children tickle the nut sacks of perverted old men?

Whatever the answer, we all know that your God must be condemned to the the celestial firing squad for preventing these men from spreading their semen all over the faces of little children. Though, in all fairness, some may prefer to fire their loads of cum on those baby butts instead.

My friend, you’re an absolute monster for avoiding this most important “truth” about your God. He simply can’t or won’t spare innocent children the torture of sucking cock against their will.

You want to profess the “truth”? Profess that!

    2. In reply to “…truth [exists] and it can be found by those who love it”: if the first step is love the truth of specific statements, then it is possible to stick there without ever having looked at the evidence in an unbiased way. Discovering the truth requires, instead, a neutral point of view.

In your case, I suspect one piece of evidence you have never fully considered is the large number of devout Hindus and Muslims. There are more of them in total than there are Christians. How do you justify taking Christian doctrine as your starting point when it is believed by a minority?

      1. The truth that saves (according to the message of the Bible) is the knowledge of Jesus Christ (1 Timothy 2:3-4). There is no scientific method to it that would require “having looked at the evidence in an unbiased way.” It just does not work that way, and if a person will not accept that this is not the way to come to the knowledge of the truth that the Bible testifies of, then there is no way forward. Let me take an example. Let’s say someone gives me a bicycle to ride from point A to B and I am fully capable of riding a bike. But I insist that I need the equivalent of a car key to get it “started.” Then I’ll never go anywhere because that’s not how a bicycle gets going. That’s what happens with people who destroy their path to come to the knowledge of the truth by insisting on proceeding their way rather than the way prescribed by the the one who has revealed Himself to the world and declared, “I am… the truth” (Jesus). So, the truth is a person, not merely “specific statements” that may be inquired into. And I will add that there is no “hard to get” being played. God will meet in their endeavors those wholeheartedly loving and seeking the truth and will keep them from deception.

The piece of evidence for me is a word that I have heard and I have deemed the author of it trustworthy. The fact that I grew up in a country practicing the so-called Christian religion is irrelevant. So-called Christians are also great in number just like the Muslims and Hindous (https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_religious_populations). But when I speak of the truth, I am not speaking of so-called Christianity that you can find defined on Wikipedia but of Jesus Christ (cf. the truth that exists). There is no way of not lumping all things together, both counterfeit religion and truth (because both deal with God and his rule over man) and arrive at the knowledge of Jesus. So, it does take a thirst and love for the truth and a determined effort to find it, regardless of one’s background.

So, coming to the knowledge of the truth, which is a personal knowing, starts with a word that is heard and believed. That’s essential because the end goal is not a scientific find but a relationship. A good relationship cannot be based on mistrust. Hence, Jesus calls people to come to him with humility “as little children,” and requires self-denial to become his follower and be led to what He promises. Humanly speaking, this is a death sentence: He says, (in my own paraphrase) forget who you think you are, what you think you have, who/what you think you know, what you think you have accomplished, if you will be my disciples. A shift in one’s thinking is demanded as you can remark. The Bible calls that repentance. And humility allows all this. That’s the message of Jesus to those who will follow Him and come to know Him (Mark 8:34-38, John 8:31-32).

And for those who may be inclined to find “proof” that what Jesus has spoken is true, He said this:
        John 7:17
If anyone wants to do God’s will, he will know about my teaching, whether it is from God or whether I speak from my own authority.

This still requires to receive his word and regard it as true and put it into practice, that is, actually obey Him and thus do God’s will. And a revelation of the truth (not a man-centered finding) is promised. There will be the knowledge that what was embraced simply by faith was indeed the truth and not a lie. That’s my basis for making this reply to you, not a religious affiliation as you may understand. Humility is an essential element in anyone’s approach to God. A willingness to respect Him for who He is and to obey Him is required. The intents of anyone’s heart are clearly seen by God. And this is like an axiom that will serve anyone willing to find the truth: “God resists the proud but gives grace [favor] to the humble.”

      2. Correction: “There is no way of lumping all things…” (remove ‘not’).
        Peace to you Tim Freeman.

      3. Tim Freeman: I appreciate your comments on this subject; however, you’re going about this all wrong. That is not how to communicate or debate Christians. I want to be helpful 🙂

Notice how “Yes To The Truth” never responded to my comments about his God’s inability (or unwillingness) to spare innocent children the torture of sucking cock against their will. Notice how he prefers to answer to your comment instead. This is a beautiful example of how to correctly conduct this dance.

Remember that in chess, you are moving your pieces on the expectation of how you opponent will move theirs. You need to think ahead minimum three moves as you move your opponent in the direction you wish them to move. “Yes To The Truth” was check-mated, but you gave him a life line. That was the wrong move since it allowed him to spread more of his filthy propaganda. Understand their objective and move towards your own. Anything else results in your opponent achieving his goal.

The subject here is God watching men insert their penises into the fragile and still developing anuses of small children.

        Let the Christian soldier respond.

  9. I’m glad I found this blog. I just realized that Jesus said “till heaven and earth pass away.” Heaven, as God’s abode, can never pass away; nor does the earth ever truly end, but it does appear to start over every 2000 or so years when mankind gets too corrupt. The law may be a good standard but any attempt to follow it just results in mental illness. The basis is love for God and love for neighbor which automatically fulfills the law without trying.

I left Christianity in 2010 and this resulted in a divorce from my ex. I did overcome Bipolar disorder/Schizophrenia by learning how to ground myself in reality and manage my own mind and emotions. My ex told me to do this but hated me when I actually learned how to do it. I started reading the works of the mystics and the Gnostics and also discovered Preterism onFacebook The latter is where I discovered how to read the bible from a 1st century mindset and realized everything has already been fulfilled. History just repeats itself every other millenium.

We basically get a “new heaven and new earth” which just gets corrupted again.

    1. Glad you found this blog helpful 🙂

    2. I don’t know much about Preterism. I will check it out.

How do you justify ignoring all those ridiculous old laws when Matt 5:18-19 apparently says they still apply? You mentioned a 1st century mindset, but I don’t see how that affects the clear meaning expressed there.
