“So you believe in a god?” – Oath of the Nazi SS

Every now and then, you hear that Nazis were atheists. Nothing can be further from the truth. I stumbled upon the Nazi SS oath and just had to share it.

The full Eidformel der Schutzstaffel (Oath of the SS) consisted of three questions and answers. The following text is cited from a primary source written by Heinrich Himmler himself!

“Wie lautet Dein Eid ?” – “Ich schwĂśre Dir, Adolf Hitler, als FĂźhrer und Kanzler des Deutschen Reiches Treue und Tapferkeit. Wir geloben Dir und den von Dir bestimmten Vorgesetzten Gehorsam bis in den Tod. So wahr mir Gott helfe !”

“Also glaubst Du an einen Gott ?” – “Ja, ich glaube an einen Herrgott.”

“Was hältst Du von einem Menschen, der nicht an einen Gott glaubt?” – “Ich halte ihn fĂźr Ăźberheblich, größenwahnsinnig und dumm; er ist nicht fĂźr uns geeignet.”

“What is your oath ?” – “I vow to you, Adolf Hitler, as FĂźhrer and chancellor of the German Reich loyalty and bravery. I vow to you and to the leaders, that you set for me, absolute allegiance, till death. So help me god !”

“So you believe in a god ?” – “Yes, I believe in a supreme being.”

“What do you think about a man who does not believe in a god ?” – “I think he is overbearing, megalomaniac and foolish; he is not adequate for our society.”

    However it can be perceived that “supreme being” is just another phrase for the aryan race…

      False. Herrgott doesn’t translate into supreme being. It most certainly refers to the Christian god. Promise.

      Actually believe it or not guys but this might actually prove the Catholic Nazi conspiracies. (Keep in mind the Catholic religion is actually the Roman religion with its gods renamed.)

      LOL. If they used the term “jelly donut” would THAT mean Ayan to you also?
      Then why do [they] not just come out and SAY Aryan. They never had a problem with that before.
      I further noted your grammar was about on the 8th-grade reading and comprehension level. That would also account for the silly and needless assumption.

      You assume a great deal. You must be a degreed professional in history, to be that gifted. I would also recommend you raise your grammar level a bit to suit your “advanced” degrees.
      There are also numerous photos of Hitler leaving various churches. Albeit Lutheran or Catholic, dropping in to use the phone, you’ll bet.

    Yeah, I believe in God, I believe He doesn’t like me. And if the 6 o’clock news is any indication, I’m not alone!

    Any so called “God” that demands or requires mortals do this dirty work for Him (killing, war, punish, ostracize) is not omnipotant(all powerful), omnicient(all knowing), or omnipresent(everywhere), and therefore forfeits any and all legitimacy to be considered the Supreme Being. If God wants me or anyone else dead, he can do it Himself just like He did in Egypt when He killed all the 1st born during the time of Moses (1st passover). How many Acts Of God can claim a life? Earthquakes, floods, tornadoes, lightning, meteors, sink holes, land slides, disease, heart attack, stroke, brain embolism, animal attacks, etc… I’m not hiding.

    Too many christians willingly give up the right to think for themselves regarding morality issues handed down to them from the preacher behind the pulpit. “You can’t question God’s authority!” If I’m created in God’s image, I believe that I’m obligated to use my God given intellect to question the commands, laws & precepts handed down in scripture, from the church & clergy. I suspect someone lied & put words in God’s mouth to further their own agenda.

      Keep in mind you are talking about something with all the power in the universe. Going against him knowing he’s real is pointless. If you really believe he exists then realize that he is the most intelligent being in existence. Trying to understand his reasoning is ok just don’t call him a monster because remember he is allowing you to come to your own conclusions. You can chose to follow God or Satan, just know that Satan’s side is pointless.

      I understand you may think I’m a “brainwashed Christian” or a “Anti science loser!” But remember insults aren’t an argument.

      Your last paragraph is the argument Lucifer uses to seduce man, and is the reason he now fries in Hell. It was the reason he was thrown out of heaven, with his minions. They too questioned God’s authority. Satan told them, eerily from your dialog, that they were able to use their gifts of intellect (believing they were as smart as God), to act on their own. Without the need to be included in God’s Kingdom. They were cast out with that attitude, never to return again. Man, however, can be pardoned because [he] is not as smart as angels, plus, man has never stood in God’s Kingdom and his Presence to see him – like the fallen angels have. On the downside, I have spent lots of time in a hospice. Not once did I ever see someone dying in a hospice utter anything you just wrote. Nope. On their last breath, everyone is begging for God and their mothers. And you will too. You better change your attitude and go to the church or synagogue of your choice.

    As a matter of fact I do have a question about this. The end said “Any questions?” but when I click on the notes part it goes nowhere. So here’s my question. Where did you “stumble upon” this? I just ask because I’ve noticed that usually when this oath is spoken about or written about, that part is conspicuously absent.

    Not that I don’t believe you. Just that with something like that, one likes to have really good vetting. It’s an unusual situation.

      Hi Paul. Thanks for bringing this to my attention. It appears that the book I referenced was removed from Archive.org. I definitively understand where you’re coming from. If you navigate my blog, you’ll notice that I try to be as detailed as possible with all my sources. It’s a thing for me 🙂
